Environmental Impairment Liability
Environmental Insurance (or ‘Environmental Impairment Liability’) covers third-party liability that’s mainly linked with pollution, but which also includes environmental damage. The covered events aren’t time-dependent and can be considered as both sudden and gradual.
A ‘third party’ can be defined as:
• A regulator/government body
• A non-government body that has been granted powers to enforce environmental legislation, such as Natural England
• A neighbour
• A visitor
• A vendor or purchaser
• A client
