The link below highlights a recent study by Coutts, launched as “Objects of Desire” which compared the price return of various passion assets over a seven and a half year period.

The index examined 15 passion assets which were split into trophy property and alternative investments.

Coutts found that classic cars provided the best performance with returns rising by 257% since 2005.  This beat all other investments by more than 80% over the same period.

Classic watches rose by 176%.

Chinese works of art was another high growth area rising by 163%.

Looking at these rates of growth, it is worth considering the revaluation of high value items on a regular basis to ensure that they are adequately insured.
